Mumbai: India registered 10,853 fresh Covid-19 cases and 526 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family welfare on Sunday.
With the addition of new deaths, the total deaths toll reached 4,60,791. The country’s active caseload stands at 1,44,845 the lowest in the last 260 days, the Ministry said.
According to Ministry, with 12,432 recoveries reported in the last 24 hours, the total recoveries in the country have been increased to 3,37,49,900. The recovery rate is currently at 98.23 per cent which is the highest since March 2020. Meanwhile, a total of 1,08,21,66,365 dosed of COVID-19 vaccine has been administered in the country so far.
Maharashtra which has continued to witness a decline in the number of Covid cases registered 661 new infections yesterday. As 896 recoveries were recorded in the same period, recoveries outnumbered the number of new cases in the state which currently has 14,714 active cases.
Kerala logged 6,546 Covid cases yesterday with which the active cases in the state reached 72,876. During the same period,7,085 patients have recovered from the disease.
Over 116.58 crore Covid-19 vaccine doses provided to States, Union Territories so far
More than 116.58 crore (1,16,58,27,955) Covid-19 vaccine doses have been provided to States and Union Territories so far through the Centre and direct state procurement category, the Union health ministry said. More than 15.77 (15,77,70,771) crore balance and unutilised vaccine doses are still available with the States and UTs to be administered, it said.
The Union government is committed to accelerating the pace and expanding the scope of Covid-19 vaccination throughout the country, it added.
As part of the nationwide vaccination drive, the Government of India has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them COVID Vaccines free of cost. In the new phase of the universalisation of the Covid-19 vaccination drive, the Union Government will procure and supply (free of cost) 75% of the vaccines being produced by the vaccine manufacturers in the country to States and UTs, the ministry said.
