The Mumbai-based  AAP politician further said, “In Mumbai, there are other issues as well, roads, the whole issue of roads has to be tackled on a war footing. That’s not just the removal of potholes, it is good roads, it is sidewalks, it is creating of hawker zones to dispel traffic, it is the removal of tolls, it is creating of intercity bus deports, and there are a lot of transport issues that need fixing, which BMC has to do, which we will do when we are in power.”

On Saturday, the Mumbai president of the Aam Aadmi Party, Preeti Sharma Menon, spoke exclusively to HW news and said, if the party comes to power in the upcoming BMC polls, they will provide free electricity to Mumbaikars.

When asked about the three major agendas of the AAP for the civic body polls, the AAP leader said “We have six major agendas. The first two agendas are water and electricity, in Delhi and Punjab 1000s of users are getting free water and electricity, why not Mumbai?”, the AAP Leader said .” If AAP comes to power we will give electricity-free, we will give water free, every house will have a water connection, there will be no illegal citizen, every citizen has a right to water”.

The AAP Mumbai leader further said, “We have two other issues which are national issues, education, and health, In Mumbai, today the population of students in municipal schools has dwindled to 2.5 lakhs, that too exists only in schools run by NGO, municipal education has almost come to an end, and every poor person is supposed to spend on education and, that is a crime against Indian citizens,” she said.

“There are no primary healthcare centres. We had four major municipal hospitals 40 years ago, we have four municipal hospitals even today, there has been no change,” Preeti said.

Concluding her answer, Preeti said, “Cleanliness is an important issue for Mumbai. Cleanliness is not about picking up garbage, it is about managing the dumping centers. Today in Mumbai, only 30% of our sewage is treated, 70% of our sewage is just thrown into the sea.”She said.

She also said there are several other issues that the civic body has to work on, which the AAP will deal with.

The BMC has been ruled by the Shiv Sena for more than 25 years now.
