New Delhi: NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu has been elected as the 15th President Of India on Thursday. She is the first Tribal woman to occupy the top constitutional post of the country. Her competition was with the Opposition candidate Yashwant Sinha.
NDA Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu has crossed the 50% mark to win the Presidential elections, only after the third round of counting of votes. Ms Murmu has secured 5,77,777 votes till now which is more than the required number whereas her opponent and opposition candidate could only manage 2,61,062 votes.
Mr. Sinha has congratulated Ms. Murmu on Twitter along with a statement, “I join my fellow citizens in congratulating Smt Droupadi Murmu on her victory in the Presidential Election 2022. India hopes that as the 15th President of the Republic she functions as the Custodian of the Constitution without fear or favor.” he said.

All eyes will be now on the Vice-presidential elections which are scheduled on August 6. While NDA has filed Jagdeep Dhankhar, Margaret Alva is the opposition’s nominee for the post . Jagdeep Dhankhar was serving as Governor of West Bengal. Margaret Alva served as the Governor of Goa.
