Assembly election 2019: Share market sees upward swing as trends start coming in

On Thursday the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex opened with a gain of 248 points at 39307. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty also gained 56 points.

 

Mumbai| The trends of the results of Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections have started coming. According to the trends so far, BJP seems to be emerging as the single largest party in both states. Meanwhile, stock markets have opened up on a good note today. The BJP-Shiv Sena government in Maharashtra seems to be forming. On Thursday morning, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex opened with a gain of 248 points at 39307. The National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty also gained 56 points to open at 11,661.65. However, the market continues to fluctuate after this.

By 10 am, the Sensex was trading at 39,057, slipping slightly. By 10.50 in the morning, the Sensex reached the red mark and was trading at 39,024, down by 34 points. The BSE Telecom index has declined and the shares of Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea, Bharti Infratel are showing in red mark. 5 out of 13 stocks of this index were seen.

MTNL shares rose due to news of the merger

On Thursday, MTNL shares rose by 5%. The government has announced the merger of Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) on Wednesday. Today the impact of this news was seen on the shares of MTNL. The government has announced a package of Rs 70,000 crore for these two loss-making PSUs. Its share price has gained 4.92 per cent to Rs 6.19.
