A recent NSSO report on the Household Consumer Expenditure Survey said that consumer spending fell for the first time in more than four decades in 2017-18 because of the falling rural demand. The average amount of money spent by a person in a month fell by 3.7 per cent to Rs 1,446 in 2017-18 from Rs 1,501 in 2011-12, the report said. This means that National Income of the courtry has gone down which eventually means poverty is on rise or people are hesitating to spend. However, the government has decided to not publish the report citing it has quality issues and is flawed. In this episode of the Business Tit-Bits, our Business Editor Mr Akhilesh Bhargava shares his take on the same. #HouseholdConsumerExpenditure #NSSO #FinanceMinister
