The equity markets on Friday opened flat with key sectors like IT and banking losing heavy.
The 30-share BSE Sensex which had closed a few decimal points below the 35,600-mark yesterday opened with a 50-odd point lead on Friday morning and has been trading sedate in morning session. The broader 50-share NSE Nifty was testing its 10,800-levels. Nifty was able to maintain its 10,800 mark yesterday.

Markets took a negative turn on Thursday after the US raised key lending rates and closer home, the current account deficit data cut a sorry figure.
IT and pharma sectoral sub-indices were losing 1.50 per cent each. The overall health of the markets was kept in shape by Nifty Pharma, which was up almost 2 per cent.
Dr Reddy, Sun Pharma, TCS and Infosys were topping the charts on Friday morning.
