Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), the largest company in India by market capitalization in its 44th AGM today announced that its indigenous 5G technology is ready for deployment and also said that it didn’t cut salaries of its employees in the last year.
Nita Ambani, Reliance Foundation’s founder and chairperson said “The COVID-19 pandemic is a humanitarian crisis. It has tested the very spirit of humanity. But even in the darkest hour, our spirit has shone brightly. We as a people have come together and fought this battle. We did not cut salaries, bonuses, or any other compensation for our employees throughout the Covid situation.”

He also said that Reliance Jio is ready to deploy 5G networks for consumers in India and is confident that Jio will be the first mobile service provider in India to roll out 5G services. Jio also confirmed that they have successfully demonstrated speeds in excess of 1Gbps for this 5G technology during field trials.
“Our ‘Made in India’ solution is comprehensive, complete, and globally competitive. It reaffirms my faith in the abundant talent of Indian engineers to deliver world-class products in such cutting-edge technology. Recently, we received the necessary regulatory approvals… as well as trial spectrum for initiating 5G field-trials,” said Ambani.

He also confirmed that the entire 5G Standalone Network has been installed in the company’s data centers across India and also at the trial sites in the Navi Mumbai region. “We are confident of being the first to launch full-fledged 5G services. And because of our converged, future-proof architecture, JIO’s network is uniquely positioned to quickly and seamlessly upgrade from 4G to 5G,” News18 reported
Reliance also announced Saudi Aramco Chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan will be joining RIL’s board, the Google-Jio smartphone JioPhone Next, and Google Cloud joining hands with Reliance Jio for its 5G initiative.
JioPhone Next, an affordable android smartphone made in partnership with Google will be released on September 10 this year.
