Congress leader Sharad Pawar quickly backed Shiv Sena and Congress amid election loss and suspected cross-voting reports.

New Delhi: Congress Leader Sharad Pawar backed the Shiv Sena-led MVA amid poor performance and suspected cross-voting reports.

He responded to the disappearance of Shinde and other MLAs saying “The Maharashtra government is running smoothly”.

His comment was followed by reports today that claimed Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and other MLAs were reportedly moved to a Surat-hotel in Gujarat after the BJP’s sudden victory claiming 5 seats in the Maharashtra MLC elections.

The National Congress Party Chief commented that he has complete faith in Chief Minister Thackeray and promised that the Sena will rise from the present crisis smoothly.

Sources further added that Pawar will meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to assess the MVA’s poor performance in the state MLC elections.

The current state of atmosphere in Maharashtra questions the stability of the MVA coalition led by Shiv Sena as reports emerged earlier today stating that Eknath Shinde and 21 others were moved to a hotel in Surat, Gujarat.

]The move has put the coalition under pressure as alleged cross voting reports emerged after the election held on Monday.

The sudden move of leaders to shift to the BJP-led state has put leader Uddhav Thackeray and the Shiv Sena under an unpredicted siege.

The allegiance that performed poorly at the MLC elections held this Monday met under an urgent meeting of Sena MLAs earlier today hosted by Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Uddhav Thackeray, while Congress leaders assembled today at the residence of Balasaheb Thorat.

Aiming at the BJP, Sena MP Sanjay Raut earlier commented that a plan has emerged to overthrow the state government, he added, “same pattern as in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan”. “Shiv Sena is a party of loyalists. We won’t let that happen.”
