With the COVID-19 cases refusing to slow down, India reported its highest case count on Sunday. 2,61,500 cases and 1501 deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. This is the fourth straight day of over 2 lakh cases being reported. Active cases in the country, as of Sunday stand at 18,01,316.
Maharashtra reported a worrying 67,123 cases and 419 deaths and accounts for nearly 39% of the active caseload of the country. Whereas states and UTs like Delhi (24,375), Karnataka (17,489), Chhattisgarh (16,083), Uttar Pradesh (27,334), Kerala (13,835), Madhya Pradesh (11,269), Tamil Nadu (9,344), Rajasthan (9,046), Gujarat (9,541) and Maharashtra are reporting close to 80% of the COVID-19 cases, according to the Union Health Ministry.
