Manipur Life Disrupted As Civilian’s Death Sparks 48-Hour Strike

A 48-hour total shutdown, initiated by a Joint Action Committee (JAC) in protest of the January 17 killing of a 26-year-old village volunteer, disrupted normal life in Manipur on Saturday. The volunteer, Takhellambam Manoranjan Singh, was fatally shot alongside his friend while defending Kangchup village. The strike, led by civil society organizations, impacted businesses, educational institutions, and government and private offices.
