This Party Has Candidates With Maximum Criminal Cases

The 3rd Telangana assembly elections are just days away, and the top brass from all the contesting parties are bracing up for the final round of campaigning. Let’s, in this article, discuss the number of criminal cases against candidates from various political parties who are in the race.

According to an analysis of the affidavits by the Forum for Good Governance, the incumbent Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has the least number of criminal cases.

The Congress has the maximum number of candidates with criminal cases, with 78 of its candidates facing court trials.

Starting from the Party’s state unit chief Revanth Reddy, who has the maximum number of cases labeled to his name, which is 89 cases. A majority of the FIRs are related to leveling allegations that the police were supporting the ruling party, followed by insulting the police apart from allegedly insulting a local MLA, obstructing officials while on duty, defamation, and blocking traffic.

Second on the list is Khanapur candidate Vedma Bojju with 52 cases to his name. Kokkirala Premsagar Rao with 32 cases, Purumalla Srinivas with 24, and Jaya Prakash Reddy with 20 cases.

Four criminal cases have been registered against former Indian captain Md Azharuddin, for alleged misappropriation of funds to the tune of Rs 3.85 crore. The money was allegedly spent to purchase cricket balls, fire safety equipment, gym equipment, and bucket chairs for use at the RGIC stadium in Uppal.

The BJP unit of Telangana has 84 candidates with criminal cases.

And can you guess who is on the top of the list? It’s T Raja Singh, who the BJP earlier suspended for objectionable remarks against Prophet Mohammad, who has 89 cases to his name. Bandi Sanjay has 59 cases, Soyam Bapu Rao with 55, Eatala Rajender with 40, and Raghunandan Rao with 27 cases.

The Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM, which is contesting nine seats, has six candidates facing legal charges. Asaduddin Owaisi’s brother Akbaruddin Owaisi has 6 cases, while the others, including Zulfequar Ali, Kausar Mohiuddin, Md. Majid Hussain, Md. Rasheed Farazuddin, and Khaja Moinuddin, have one case each to their names.

Finally, coming to the BRS, 58 candidates of the BRS have criminal cases against them. Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food & Civil Supplies of Telangana Gangula Kamalakar is facing 10 cases, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has 9, and his son KTR has 8 cases. Vakiti Suneeta and Sabitha Indra Reddy have 5 cases each registered against them.
