Truck, Bus Drivers Protest Across States Against Hit-And-Run Law

Truckers, taxi and bus operators have started a nationwide strike to oppose the newly-passed Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Under these new provisions, hit-and-run cases can attract a 10-year jail term and a fine of Rs 7 lakh. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region witnessed over 70% of vehicles off the roads, impacting fuel distribution and affecting fruits and vegetable supplies during the three-day strike.
