On Tuesday, Turkish lawmakers approved Sweden’s NATO membership, removing a significant barrier to the formerly nonaligned nation’s entry into the military alliance. The accession protocol was ratified by 287 votes to 55, with four abstentions. After swift publication in the Official Gazette, the ratification will take effect, leaving Hungary as the sole NATO ally yet to ratify Sweden’s accession.
