Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is expected to disregard the fourth summons from the Enforcement Directorate (ED), requiring his appearance in connection with the money laundering investigation linked to the Delhi excise policy scam.
Following his involvement in an education department event in Delhi at 12 pm, Kejriwal is scheduled to embark on a three-day tour of Goa alongside Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann. This strategic visit aligns with the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, offering Kejriwal an opportunity to engage with party workers and potentially address a public rally.
Kejriwal had previously chosen to ignore the summons on January 3, contending that the probe agency’s actions were “illegal” and “politically motivated,” solely aimed at his arrest. He also opted not to attend questioning on November 2 and December 21, participating instead in a 10-day Vipassana meditation camp.
The initial summons, issued to Kejriwal in October of the previous year, was part of the ongoing investigation into alleged money laundering related to the liquor policy. The Delhi government withdrew this policy in July 2023 following corruption allegations. Although the AAP chief was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation in April, he had not been formally accused by the agency.
In a parallel development, senior AAP leader and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, along with another party leader, Sanjay Singh, have been arrested in the same case.
