Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) alleged that Riya bought Marijuana for actor Sushant Singh Rajput and abetting his “extreme drug addiction”.

Mumbai: Actor Rhea Chakraborty has been charged by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for allegedly buying Marijuana and handing it over to late actor Sushant Singh Rajput, who was found dead at his residence on June 14, 2020. In its probe into the drugs case linked to his death, the NCB has brought in a total of 38 charges against 35 accused in the case from ‘high society and Bollywood’, the PTI  reported.

A charge sheet filed by the NCB names her and 34 others including her brother Showik Chakraborty, the draft charges alleged that the accused financed drug trafficking and consumed drugs like ‘ganja’ (weed), ‘charas’, cocaine and other psychotropic substances without valid licence, permit or authorisation within the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.

The NCB claims that she received and delivered marijuana to Sushant Singh. She also made payments for it at his instance, they said. For actor Rhea Chakraborty, then-girlfriend of Sushant Singh Rajput, the draft charges state, “That in pursuance of the aforesaid criminal conspiracy or otherwise, you accused no. 10 Rhea Chakroborty received many deliveries of ganja from Samuel Miranda, Showik Charoborty and Dipesh Sawant and others and handed over those deliveries to Actor late Sushant Singh Rajput and made payments for those deliveries at the instance Showik & Late Sushant Singh Rajput during the period March 2020 to September 2020.”

“ Therefore, they have been charged under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, including sections 27 and 27 A (financing illicit traffic and harbouring offenders) 28 (punishment for attempts to commit offences), 29 (whoever abets, or is a party to a criminal conspiracy), as per the draft charges,” the report says.

Though, the actress has called the allegations against her a “witch-hunt” but if found guilty, she could face over 10 years in jail.
