Defence Minister further spoke about the 1962 war with China and observed that ‘China occupied our area in Ladakh, with Pandit Nehru as our PM.’
Mumbai: On Sunday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in J&K reminisced the contribution of those army men who were martyred in the Kargil war and paid tribute to them. At the commemoration ceremony of the 1999 war, the minister even met with the families of those who sacrificed their lives while serving the nation, Hindustan Times reported.
“Will remember those who laid their lives in service of the country. Our Army has always made this supreme sacrifice for our country. Several of our brave soldiers laid their lives in the 1999 war, I bow down to them,” said Rajnath Singh.
Further, he spoke about the 1962 war with China and Jawaharlal Nehru being PM then. He said that China acquired parts of our Ladakh stressing the fact that Pandit Nehru was in power then. He added, “I will not question his intentions. Intentions can be good but the same does not apply to policies. However, today’s India is one of the most powerful countries in the world,” quoted ANI.
Rajnath Singh also spoke about Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and said that a resolution regarding the same has been passed by the Indian parliament. “Pakistan-occupied Kashmir was part of India, is and will remain part of India. How come Baba Amarnath in the form of Shiva is with us and Mother Sharda Shakti is on the other side of the LoC,” he said.
The Indian Army is prepping up for the 23rd ‘Kargil Vijay Diwas’ Memorial Service to be held at the Kargil War Memorial. Kargil Vijay Diwas is observed annually on July 26 to commemorate India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1999 war for the three day event preparations are underway.
