“Because Of India’s Rising Power…”: PM Modi On Citizens’ Evacuation From Ukraine

Addressing a rally in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra on Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said it is because of “India’s rising power that we are able to evacuate citizens from Ukraine, news agency PTI reported. He also said India would not spare any effort to bring home citizens from Ukraine.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, earlier in the day, had said today that India has evacuated 1,377 citizens from war-torn Ukraine in the past 24 hours.

The Prime Minister, hitting out at the opposition, especially the Congress, said: “Those who questioned the valour of armed forces and ‘Make in India’ can’t make the country strong.”

Amid the heated and intense campaigning for assembly elections fought in five states, opposition has stepped up its attacks against the government over delay in evacuating Indian nationals stuck in war-torn Ukraine.

PM Modi has held four meetings in three days over the evacuation of Indian citizens from Ukraine.
