Breaking News: 26/11 Mastermind Hafiz Saeed arrested in Lahore

The arrest of Hafiz Saeed comes at a time when FATF (Financial Action Task Force) has been pressuring the Imran Khan government to act against the terrorists operating from its soil.

 

New Delhi| The infamous terrorist and 26/11 mastermind Hafiz Saeed has been arrested from Lahore, Pakistani media reported today. The Jamat-ud-Dawa chief was arrested on Wednesday when he was on his way to Gujranwala.

The arrest has been made by Pakistan Punjab police. According to the reports, he has been sent to judicial custody.

The arrest of Hafiz Saeed comes at a time when FATF (Financial Action Task Force) has been pressuring the Imran Khan government to act against the terrorists operating from its soil. Earlier, Saeed was under house arrest.

Hafiz Saeed is a founder of Jamat ud Dawa (JuD), a front for Lashkar e Taiba (LeT). LeT is a terrorist group designated by the United Nations.

LeT members were involved in 26/11 terrorist attacks in Mumbai in 2008 that killed 166 people, including six US citizens. Two of these citizens also had Israeli citizenship and ran the city’s Chabad House. The four days of attacks left more than 300 others wounded.
