British Prime Minister Boris Johnson is set to face a confidence vote from his own party members in the Conservative Party, over the ‘partygate’ scandal later on Monday, as said by the chairman of the 1922 Committee Graham Brady to the lawmakers.
He wrote to the Conservative lawmakers, “The threshold of 15% of the parliamentary party seeking a vote of confidence in the leader of the Conservative Party has been exceeded.”
“In accordance with the rules, a ballot will be held between 1800 and 2000 today Monday 6th June — details to be confirmed. The votes will be counted immediately afterwards. An announcement will be made at a time to be advised.”
British Conservative Party lawmaker Jesse Norman said that he could not support the PM any longer and called Johnson out the “end the charade” of staying in office.
Johnson’s leadership has been criticized over the ‘partygate’ scandal inciting the lawmakers to want to oust him from power.
