China’s Whistleblower Doctor Li Wenliang Who Warned of Coronavirus In Advance, Dies of Infection

Doctor Li Wenliang said during an interview: “If the officer had told people about the Coronavirus in advance, then the situation would have been better.”

 

Wuhan| The death toll in Coronavirus cases in China rose to 638 on Friday. Within a day, 73 people were infected with the virus. Doctor Li Wenliang, who first warned about the Novel-Coronavirus virus, also died on Friday. He himself was affected by this virus. Social media users were angry over the news of his death.

People demanded that hospital officials should apologize to his family for not saving Dr Li. On Weibo, China’s Twitter site, ‘I Want Freedom of Speech’ trended for a while. However, the government later censored the trend.

After he revealed the threat Coronavirus posed, Police had begun interrogating Dr Li in the beginning week of January. In fact, he told his colleagues at the medical school on December 30 about the outbreak of the infection. He described the danger as SARS (2002) virus. However, the police forced them to falsify their own claim. They were also made to sign on the statement admitting these claims as illegal rumours.

The doctor said during an interview: “If the officer had told people about the epidemic in advance, then the situation would have been better. More openness and transparency should be adopted here. ”

So far, the number of people infected with the virus has reached 31 thousand. However, on Thursday, data was leaked by China’s technology company Tencent. According to it, 25,000 people have died from the virus in China. While 1.54 lakh people have been infected with the virus.
