Coronavirus Situation “Worsening” Worldwide, 1 Lakh Cases Everyday In Last 10 Days: WHO

The head of WHO, Tedros Ghebreyeses, said that 9 out of the last 10 days, close to 1 Lakh cases were recorded worldwide. It has been 6 months since the world is fighting the virus, but the threat has not been avoided. “This is not the time for any country to back out of efforts,” Tedros said.

Tedros said that in countries where the situation is improving, the biggest challenge now is to follow the preventive measures. It is necessary to wear masks in public places to avoid this. A new study has revealed that masks are helpful in preventing infection.

The highest number of cases were reported on 7 June

He said that 1 lakh 36 thousand cases were reported worldwide on 7 June. These are the highest number of infections in a day. 75% of these were found in the US and South Asian countries. WHO is helping the infection affected countries. It has sent 5 million security devices to 110 countries. In the coming time, it plans to send 12.9 million PPE kits to 126 countries.

Improvement in the situation in European countries

The WHO said that the situation in Europe was improving. He stated that the Epicenter of the first infection was East Asia. After this, it spread rapidly in Europe. Now America has replaced it. Although the situation is now improving in European countries, the situation is getting worse in other parts of the world. The disease is increasing rapidly, especially in African countries.
