Donald Trump confirms death of Osama Bin Laden’s son Hamza

Washington | The White House has confirmed on Saturday that the son of late Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden, Hamza Bin Laden, has been killed.

Hamza has been killed in a US counter-terrorism operation in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region.

“The loss of Hamza bin Laden not only deprives Al-Qaeda of important leadership skills and the symbolic connection to his father but undermines important operational activities of the group,” Trump said in a statement issued by the White House.

As the leader of al Qaeda, Osama bin Laden and others plotted the attacks of September 11, 2001. The US Navy SEALs killed him in a raid on a house in Abbottabad, Pakistan, in 2011.

The State Department announced a $1 million bounty on his head in February 2019
