Emmanuel Macron’s sly dig at Trump; says third party shouldn’t intervene in Kashmir

Macron said, “I will talk to Pakistan PM as well after a few days & say that the talks should be held at a bilateral level only.”

Chantilly| French President Emmanuel Macron has taken a sly dig at US President Donald Trump. Talking to reporters, Macron acknowledged that Kashmir is a bilateral matter. He also said a third party should not intervene in Kashmir or incite violence. His statement comes a day after Donald Trump said that America is trying to help the sensitive situation in Kashmir.
Macron said that PM Modi briefed him about the situation in Kashmir. He said, “PM Modi told me everything about Kashmir & the situation in J&K.”
“I said Pakistan & India will have to find a solution together & no third party should interfere or incite violence,”
he added. In a joint statement with PM Modi, he said, “It’s important that peace is maintained there (J&K). We would always want peace & dialogue. I will talk to Pakistan PM as well after a few days & say that the talks should be held at a bilateral level only.”

Want India to be a part of G-7: Macron
Prime Minister Modi arrived in France on Thursday as a part of his three-nation visit. He will be taking part in the G7 summit. He met French President Emmanuel Macron. Both the leaders issued a joint statement. Macron congratulated PM Modi for his second victory in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. He said that he wants India to be a part of G7 and has changed dome parts about how G7 is organized. “There are several matters in which we can’t move without India. There are matters where India’s presence is important,” he said.
First Rafale aircraft to be delivered by next month
Talking about Pulwama attack, he said that France has already expressed its solidarity with India on the issue of terrorism. He further assured full support to PM Modi’s pet project Make In India. Macron further said that first Rafale jet will be delivered to India by next month. Responding to the French President, PM Modi said,
“We’re happy that 1st of the 36 Rafale fighter aircraft will be handed over to India next month. “
Jaitapur Project

PM Modi also said in the address that France is the first country with which India has signed a civil nuclear arrangement. In response, Macron hinted at taking the Jaitapur project forward. He said, “If we talk about civil nuclear, there will be a discussion on Jaitapur (Nuclear Power Project) by the end of this year so that we can take the Jaitapur project forward.”
