US Embassy Warning To International Students

The US Embassy has given a warning to international students amid a big deportation row. Foreign students have been told that they can’t skip classes or leave their programs without informing the institution. Otherwise, their visas will be lost or they might not be able to apply for any US visa in the future.

The US Embassy in India wrote on X, “If you drop out, skip classes, or leave your program of study without informing your school, your student visa may be revoked, and you may lose eligibility for future US visas. Always adhere to the terms of your visa and maintain your student status to avoid any issues.”

In a separate post, the Embassy wrote “If you remain in the United States beyond your authorised period of stay, you could be deported and could face a permanent ban on travelling to the United States in the future,”

The Donald Trump-led administration has been at odds with Harvard university. The US government has imposed some harsh guidelines and impositions on the university.

The administration of the US has made its crackdown on international students much strict, by revoking visas without any earlier notice.

Ranging from pro-Palestine protests to traffic violations to other reasons, the causes have varied from case to case. These have often put students into confusion and fears concerning their future.

US Administration Measures On Students

In a lot of cases, both the students and universities are not aware. This is about whether the record of a student has been removed from the SEVIS system. The SEVIS system is a web based platform which is handled by the Department of Homeland Security. It is used for managing and tracking information on foreign students.

Indian and international students are also afraid of the Trump administration’s plan of getting rid of Optional Practical Training (OPT). It is very vital for students who work in the US after completing their graduation. US lawmakers have already placed a bill – the Fairness for High-Skilled Americans Act of 2025 – for putting an end to the OPT program.
