Former Pakistan PM Nawaz Sharif sentenced to 7 year jail: Pak Media

Islamabad| Former Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Monday was sentenced to a 7-year jail in NAB reference case.

Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar Awan was earlier released by Islamabad High Court on September 19 in the Avenfield case. The accountability court has also fined the former PM with $2.5 million in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference, and acquitted him in the Flagship Investments reference. Shariff will be transported to Adiala Jail shortly.

Earlier in July 2018 while hearing the Avenfield case, the accountability court had awarded the PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif a sentence of eleven years, while Maryam Nawaz and his husband was sentenced for eight years and one year respectively. The court had even slapped fine to the Nawaz and Maryan to pay eight million pounds and two million pounds respectively.
