Highest Civilian award proposed in the United States for Mahatma Gandhi for his 150th birth anniversary this year

Carolyn B Maloney, at the Indian Day Parade in New York, brought forth a legislation so as to award Mahatma Gandhi with Congressional Gold Medal.

MS Maloney stated, “Gandhi’s historic Satyagraha Movement of non-violent resistance inspired a nation and the world. His impact deserves recognition, which is why I am introducing legislation to posthumously award him the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian award in the US”.

Director of India Global, Prasoon Sharma, who was chosen by the Alma matter of Mahatma Gandhi-UCL, London and New York University for the policy leadership program of Global Public and was invited by the Chairman of International Ahimsa Foundation (IAF), Neeta Jain to be the Honorary Guest. Dr. Neeta Jain along with Federation of Indian Association, US team is working diligently so as to get this legislation passed.

Mr. Sharma, on the other hand, said that this award will turn out to be a historic tribute on his 150th birth anniversary (2nd October 2018). As per him, the world of today imperatively needs Gandhian principles of peace and non-violence.
