“If India Sends Army, It Won’t Be Good For Them”: Taliban Threatens

Taliban spokesperson said, “They have seen the consequences of the presence of the army and other countries in Afghanistan, so for them, it is like an open book.”

The Taliban, which is slowly tightening its hold in Afghanistan, has now threatened India. On one hand, the Islamic fundamentalist organization has praised India’s aid to Afghanistan. On the other, it has also warned that if India sends its army there, it will be “not be good for them”. Taliban spokesman has advised India to learn from the situation of ‘other countries’. He was referring to America, which has withdrawn its army after a war that lasted for nearly 20 years.

‘Have seen the fate of other countries’

Taliban spokesman Mohammad Suhail Shaheen has said in an interview with news agency ANI that if India comes to Afghanistan with the army and they have a presence here, it will be ‘not good for them’ (India). Shaheen said, “They have seen the consequences of the presence of the army and other countries in Afghanistan, so for them, it is like an open book.” He says that India has helped Afghanistan, and it is appreciated.

‘Help appreciated’

Shaheen said, “We appreciate the work done for the people of Afghanistan for dams, national and international projects, and other development, reconstruction, and economic prosperity of the people.” Earlier, there were unconfirmed reports that the Indian delegation met the Taliban. Shaheen said that no separate meeting has taken place but the Indian delegation was present during a meeting in Doha.

‘Victim of political conspiracy’

While the Taliban has warned India in a threatening tone, the spokesperson of the terrorist organization has said that there is no threat to the embassies and diplomats. “We are not targeting any embassy or diplomat,” he said. “We have said this many times in our statements. This is our commitment,” he added.

A few days ago, the Taliban spokesperson has also denied the allegation of removing the Nishan Sahib from the Gurdwara in Paktia. Shaheen said that the Sikh community itself had removed that flag. He said that when Taliban security officials arrived, people said they would be harassed if anyone saw them. He said that the flag was hoisted again after the Taliban clarification.

On the allegations of links with Pakistan-based terrorist organizations, the spokesperson said that these are “baseless allegations”. “These are not based on ground reality, but on specific policies, political motives about us,” he said. Shaheen reiterated that Afghanistan is following a policy of not allowing its motherland to be used against any country, including its neighbours.
