“Illegal Occupation” : India Objects To Pak PM’s Temporary Provincial Status To Gilgit-Baltistan

“Gilgit-Baltistan, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is an integral part of India,” MEA Spokesperson said.

The Pakistan government on Sunday announced the granting of temporary province status to Gilgit-Baltistan. India has raised a strong objection to this. Foreign Ministry spokesman Anurag Shrivastava said that India rejects any changes in the Indian territory forcibly occupied by Pakistan. This action will not be tolerated.

“Gilgit-Baltistan, Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh is an integral part of India. Instead of changing the status of these areas, Pakistan should immediately clear the illegal occupation,” Shrivastava said.

Anurag Shrivastava said, “Jammu and Kashmir was completely merged with the Union of India in 1947. This was completely valid. Because of this, the Pakistan government cannot forcibly change the occupied areas in this way. Pakistan has been harassing people here for 7 decades by taking illegal occupation in these areas and violating human rights. This is not right.”

Protests erupt in Gilgit-Baltistan

The announcement of grant of provisional province status by the government of Pakistan triggered a ruckus in Gilgit-Baltistan. Hundreds of people took to the streets against Imran Khan’s decision. People shouted slogans against Imran Khan. People said they would die, but would never go with Pakistan.
