India and China ‘cannot stand another Doklam’: Chinese ambassador

New Delhi | China’s ambassador in India on Monday stated that India and China “cannot stand another Doklam incident”.

Luo Zhaohui at a summit said the two countries had border issues but that they are neighbours who cannot be moved away from each other. Their relations called for “special care”, he added. Zhaohui further suggested that India, China, and Pakistan could “have some kind of trilateral summit” on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation meeting.

Zhaohui added that the special representatives of the two countries would meet on the border issue in Bejing this year. He added that the foreign ministers of India and China would also meet in Beijing and that the defence ministers of the two countries would meet later this year.

The Chinese ambassador also lauded Prime Minister Modi’s neighborhood-first policy, saying it mirrored Prez Xi Jinping’s own policy.
