Islamabad | Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry on Thursday clarified that apart from personal invites, no foreign leaders will be invited for the Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony.

Addressing a press conference, Chaudhry said, “It has been decided that no foreign personalities will be invited to the ceremony — it will be a completely national event. Only a few close friends of Imran Khan will be invited,” he said. There will be no show of extravagance.”

“Imran Khan will take oath in a simple ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr (President House),” added Fawad Chaudhry.

PTI Chief and sworn in prime minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan had earlier sent invitation to cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Navjot Singh Sidhu along with Actor Aamir Khan. Accepting the invite Punjab minister and former cricketer Navjot Singh Sindhu called Imran Khan a ‘man of character’. “Sportsmen have the ability to build bridges and unite people. It is (a) great honour, I accept the invitation. Men of genius are admired, men of power are feared, but men of character are trusted. Khan Sahab is a man of character. He can be trusted. Sportsmen build bridges, break barriers, unite people,” said Sidhu.

In the recently concluded Pakistan general elections in July 2018, Imran Khan party emerged as the single largest party and is going to form a government with the help of independent MPs.

Mumbai | The Bombay High Court on Thursday while rejecting the status report filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the murder case of Govind Pansare and Bharat Dabholkar criticised the agencies for submitting similar reports every time as status reports in the matter.

The top investigation agency is investigating the murder case of Rationalist Narendra Dabholkar who was murdered in the year 2013 on his way home from a morning walk. The Bombay High Court is monitoring the investigation yet there has been no major development in the investigation by the probing agencies.

MM Kalburgi, another Rationalist in Karnataka was murdered in 2015 in a similar manner. Investigation reports that both the murders were committed using the same weapon. Similarly, Communist leader Govind Pansare was shot dead in Kolhapur on February 20, 2015.
