Pakistan’s Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry confirmed that the Punjab government had taken control of the JeM headquarters located in Bahawalpur. The headquarters have Islamic Seminaries.
New Delhi| Amidst the immense international pressure after the Pulwama Attack, Pakistan seems to be tightening the noose around terror group Jaish-e-Mohammed which has claimed the responsibility of the attack in which more than 40 CRPF Jawans were martyred. On Friday, the Pakistan police force surrounded the headquarters of JeM. The move comes on the same day international terror financing watchdog FATF puled up Pakistan for not doing enough to control the terror funding.
Pakistan’s Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry confirmed that the Punjab government had taken control of the JeM headquarters located in Bahawalpur. The headquarters have Islamic Seminaries. According to the reports, there are almost 70 teachers and 600 students currently studying in it. Fawad Chowdhury said that the Punjab government has taken over the control of a campus which comprises Madressatul Sabir and Jama-e-Masjid Subhanallah. He further said that the government even appointed an administrator to manage its affairs.

Pakistan’s Interior Ministry in its statement after the crackdown on JeM said that the action has been taken “in line with the decision of the National Security Committee meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Imran Khan“. The Interior Ministry had on Thursday banned Jamat-ud-Dawa and Falah-e-Insaniat Foundation. Both the outfits are led by 2008 Mumbai Attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed. The Ministry had kept these two outfits on a watchlist earlier.
Meanwhile, the international pressure seems to be building on Pakistan. Two days ago the 15-member nation UN Security Council mentioned JeM in a statement condemning the Pulwama attack. The statement said that the UNSC in the “strongest terms” condemns the “heinous and cowardly” terror attack executed by Pakistan-based JeM.
