Report Reveals Chinese Casualties Much Higher Than Acknowledged In Galwan Clash

New Delhi: During the conflict with India in the Galwan Valley, China had underestimated the loss of its soldiers. An Australian newspaper claims that many times more Chinese soldiers than the official number were killed during the clashes in Galwan. Asper the new research, China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) had lost at least nine times more army men than India did, in the valley during the war.

Officially this loss was highly underestimated.

According to an article in the Australian newspaper ‘The Klaxon’, at least 38 Chinese soldiers drowned while crossing a fast flowing river in the dark.

The revelations of the killing of many Chinese soldiers during the conflict with India in the Galwan Valley Clash, has exposed the lies of China. The report has been cited by a group of social media researchers after a year-long investigation.

The report says that of the four soldiers confirmed by China, only one Junior Sergeant Wang Xuoran has been reported to have drowned. The report said that in the war at least 38 PLA soldiers drowned with Wang that night. The report cited discussions with mainland Chinese bloggers, information received from some Chinese nationals.

India had said that 20 of its soldiers were killed in the Galwan Valley conflict in June 2020. There were casualties in the face-to-face fighting on the intervening night of June 15 and June 16, 2020. The Galwan Valley conflict was the deadliest confrontation between India and China in four decades.

China’s state media has almost entirely failed to cover the skirmish or its aftermath.

The clash took place along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladkah following a standoff over actions of the Chinese Army.

China repeatedly refused to disclose its total casualties but in February last year it announced posthumous medals to four of its soldiers who died in the Galwan clash.

Australian newspaper ‘The Klaxon’ says that the claim of more casualties at PLA’s end during the conflict in the high-altitude Galvan Valley is not new. According to The Klaxon, evidence provided by a group of social media users also shows that China did a lot to quell discussions about the fight.

Around April 2020, the Chinese army started intensifying activities in the Galvan Valley. Infrastructure like tents, dugouts and machinery were built. Since the beginning of May 2020, there were clashes between Indian and Chinese troops not only in the Galwan Valley, but also at several points along the Sino-India border as well as near Pangong Lake in Ladakh and Tibet.
