Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) party also nominated 65-year-old former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi as its candidate for the premier’s post.

Last month, former president and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-chair Asif Ali Zardari had proposed Shehbaz’s name for the prime minister’s position in a joint opposition meeting.

“According to rumours, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is likely to be appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs,” GeoNews report said.

Shehbaz has served as CM of Punjab province.

PTI leaders Aamir Dogar and Ali Muhammad Khan will serve as endorsers for the party’s vice-chairman.

On Sunday, the Pakistan National Assembly secretariat revised its schedule to elect the new prime minister after Imran Khan being dethrowned.

The session has been shifted from 11 am to 2 pm on April 11, which was earlier scheduled for Monday at 2 pm, reported Geo News.
