US President Donald Trump Didn’t Suffer A Stroke In November, His Physician Clarifies

“I don’t recall being told to be on standby,” VP Pence said in an interview with Fox News. “I was informed that the president had a doctor’s appointment,” Pence added.

Donald Trump’s physician on Tuesday, responding to a new book suggesting Vice President Mike Pence was put on standby to assume presidential powers during a sudden Trump medical visit last year, said the US President Donald Trump did not have a stroke and remains healthy, reported Reuters.

New York Times reporter Michael Schmidt, in the book called “Donald Trump v. The United States” claimed that word went out in the West Wing around the time of the visit last November for the vice president to be on standby if Trump had to undergo a procedure that would require he be anesthetized, according to news outlets that obtained a copy.

“I don’t recall being told to be on standby,” VP Pence said in an interview with Fox News. “I was informed that the president had a doctor’s appointment,” Pence added.

“I can confirm that President Trump has not experienced nor been evaluated for a cerebrovascular accident (stroke), transient ischemic attack (mini-stroke), or any acute cardiovascular emergencies, as have been incorrectly reported in the media,” Trump’s physician, Dr. Sean Conley said in a statement.

“The president remains healthy and I have no concerns about his ability to maintain the rigorous schedule ahead of him. As stated in my last report, I expect him to remain fit to execute the duties of the Presidency,” he added.

On Twitter, Trump also denied having suffered a stroke

Trump’s unexpected and unscheduled visit to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center was described by the White House as a start to his annual physical that included a quick exam and some laboratory tests.

According to an audit statement made public by the government, the PM-CARES fund for Covid received 3,076 crore in five days.

According to an audit statement made public by the government, the PM-CARES fund for Covid received 3,076 crore in five days. The donations between March 27 (when the fund was set up) and March 31 have been recorded in the statement for the financial year 2020, NDTV reported.

Rs 3,075.85 out of the amount were from domestic voluntary contribution and ₹ 39.67 lakh was a foreign contribution. PM-CARES had an initial corpus of ₹ 2.25 lakh and the fund has also received interest of around ₹ 35 lakh, the government statement says.

Though the PM-CARES website shows the audit statement, “accompanying notes 1 to 6” in the statement have not been made public. This means the details of the domestic and foreign contributors or donors have also not been disclosed by the government.

Former finance minister and senior Congress leader P Chidambaram, in a jibe at centre, asked why the names of “these generous donors” were not revealed.

“Why? Every other NGO or Trust is obliged to reveal the names of donors contributing more than a threshold amount. Why is the PM CARES FUND exempt from this obligation,” Chidambaram tweeted.

He also asked: “The donee is known. The trustees of the donee are known. Why are the trustees afraid to reveal the names of the donors?”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi set up PM-CARES or the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund in March of this year to “deal with emergency or distress situations like the coronavirus pandemic”. The fund is managed by the trust with PM Modi as its chairperson and senior cabinet members as trustees.
