Watch: Nancy Pelosi tears Donald Trump’s state of union speech

The Democratic Party members sat silently and some were shaking their heads as Trump declared, “The state of our union is stronger than ever before”

Washington: The moment US President Donald Trump ended his State of the Union speech without a single mention of impeachment, a dramatic scene was observed when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ripped up the paper copy of his speech. Pelosi was questioned why she tore up US President’s speech. She also said it was the “courteous thing to do considering the alternative”.

According to Guardian report said that the top Democrat’s move underscored what an unprecedented State of the Union it was, from the Trump’s rejection of the Pelosi handshake to Republican cheers of “Four more years!” in the House chamber.

On Tuesday Trump, stared down Democratic lawmakers who ask to toss him from office and snubbed Nancy Pelosi at a State of the Union speech he used to tout a rosy picture of the US economy and his leadership.

Trump neglected the subject of the impeachment of his pugnacious speech, but the scars from the battle were notable with Republicans giving him standing ovations meanwhile rival Democrats, mostly remained seated.

On Wednesday the Republican members in Senate were expected to acquit him on of charges he abused his powers and block Congress.

Looking at Pelosi, for the first time since she stormed out of a White House meeting four months ago, Trump refused to shake her hand as he gave her a copy of his speech.

Pelosi had no word with Trump since their last meeting, she appeared to be taken aback. She avoided mentioning the customary “high privilege and distinct honor” that usually accompanies the speaker’s introduction of the president to Congress. “Members of Congress, the President of the United States” was all Pelosi said while introducing Trump.

The Republican Party members from both houses of Congress chanted “four more years” as he stood at the chamber of the House with a presidential election almost nine months away.

The Democratic Party members sat silently and some were shaking their heads as Trump declared, “The state of our union is stronger than ever before.”

Pelosi dropped her opposition to impeachment and allowed Democratic lawmakers to seek the charges against him, sat stoically and grim-faced behind Trump and paged through a written copy of his speech.

Trump entered the chamber with Democrats experiencing chaos after technical glitches delayed the results of the voting on Monday as the party seeks a nominee to face the incumbent Republican.
