2024 Lok Sabha Elections: Phase 3

The third phase of the Lok Sabha elections will take place today, May 7, when 94 constituencies from 12 States will go to the polls. All 26 constituencies of Gujarat will vote in a single phase on May 7. Two constituencies of Goa will also vote in the third phase of elections.

By Tuesday evening, over 280 constituencies will have gone to polls, meaning that more than half of the total seats in the Lok Sabha will have been decided. Therefore, 263 constituencies will go to polls over the remaining four phases.

The state of Gujarat and the union territories of Goa, Dadra, Nagar Haveli, Daman, and Diu will complete polling in a single phase on Tuesday.

    At 11 am, 25.4% voter turnout was recorded across 11 states and union territories. The third phase of voting takes in 26 seats in Gujarat, 14 in Karanataka, 11 in Maharashtra, 10 in Uttar Pradesh, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, 7 in Chhattisgarh, 5 in Bihar, 4 in Assam, 4 in West Bengal, 2 in Goa and 2 in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu.

  • Key Constituencies To Look Out For:

    Two of the major seats going to poll on Tuesday are Gandhinagar in Gujarat, where Home Minister Amit Shah is contesting against Sonal Ramanbhai Patel from the Congress, and Baramati in Maharashtra, where Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule is taking on his nephew Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar.

    Other seats to look for are Vidisha and Guna in Madhya Pradesh. While the BJP has fielded former MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan from Vidisha against Congress candidate Bhanu Pratap Sharma, Jyotiraditya Scindia filed his nomination from Guna against Congress’ Rao Yadavendra Singh.

    Moreover, Dharwad (BJP’s Pralhad Joshi vs. INC’s Vinod Asooti) in Bihar, Haveri (BJP’s Basavraj Bommai vs. INC’s Anand Swamy Gaddadevarmath) in Karnataka, and Dhubri (NDA’s Badruddin Ajmal vs. INDIA’s Rakibul Hassan) in Assam are also some seats to note.
