On Tuesday, a day before the Maharashtra Assembly polls, Vinod Tawde, the state’s BJP general secretary, was accused by the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) of distributing cash for vote in Virar, Palghar District.
Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) has three MLAs in the Vasai, Nallasopara and Boisar seats. In the upcoming election, Hitendra Thakur is contesting from Vasai, his son Kshitij is contesting from Nallasopara, and Rajesh Patil is contesting from Boisar.
The clash between BVA members and BJP members took place at Virar East. BVA activist and Hitendra Thakur’s son MLA Kshitij Thakur alleged that BJP general secretary Vinod Tawde had distributed ₹5 crore to their candidate, Rajan Naik.
BJP’s Nallasopara constituency candidates Rajan Naik and Vinod Tawde had a meeting at Virar East in Hotel Vivanta, where the confrontation unfolded. During the meeting, BVA workers interrupted the meeting and claimed money was being distributed. No evidence was found in Vinod Tawde’s vehicles.
