MNS: Raj Thackeray gives Hindutva touch in new Flag; likely to set ‘Shadow Cabinet’

The new Saffron flag of MNS party was launched on Thursday, which is also the birth anniversary of Shiv Sena founder late Balasaheb Thackeray.

Maharashtra| On Thursday when MNS Chief Raj Thackeray changed its party flag to saffron, Maharashtra saw yet another major political shift, most likely leaning towards Hindutva ideology.

At the Maha Adhiveshan that was conducted at NESCO ground at Goregaon, MNS Chief Raj Thackeray released the new flag for the party in presence of the party workers.

The flag is saffron in colour and has Raj Mudra as a stamp, which was used during Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s rule. The flag denotes a major policy shift of the MNS party, which will be announced later today.

Since, on the stage, Damodar Savarkar’s portrait is seen with Dr B.R. Ambedkar, Jyotibai Phule, Prabodhan Thackeray, the MNS party has appropriated Savarkar’s Hindutva ideology.

With the launch of the new flag, it is likely that every party leader and general secretary in the state government will be given the responsibility to monitor the work of the department in order to keep the state government in check. If a minister misbehaves, the MNS leader will follow. All these leaders will give a report card of the minister to party president Raj Thackeray. These will include prominent leaders like Sandeep Deshpande, Bala Nandgaonkar, Nitin Sardesai, Avinash Jadhav, Avinash Abhyankar, Shalini Thackeray, Jaiprakash Baviskar in the ‘Shadow Cabinet’. It will be interesting to see which minister of MNS has the responsibility of which minister.

In the government, the opposition is of utmost importance. The shadow cabinet also monitors the movements of every party leader in the party, and the cabinet of the same opposition is called the ‘Shadow Cabinet’. The cabinet will consist of 15 to 20 ministers of the first class. The Minister of State, the Deputy Minister are not included in the cabinet.

The cabinet of the Congress-NCP and the Shiv Sena, however, includes 33 ministers. Therefore, there are signs that every MNS leader will be given the responsibility of two ministers.
