Congress didn’t stand for Priyanka Chaturvedi is unfournate: Omar Abdullah

New Delhi | Reacting to the resignation of AICC spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi from the Congress party, National Conference chief Omar Abdullah said that it’s unfortunate that the Congress party didn’t stand for Priyanka.

Terming Chaturvedi as an asset to the Congress party Abdullah on twitter wrote that its a pity that Priyanka Chaturvedi won’t be seen defending Congress on TV screen any longer. He further added that to have lost her to selfish personal interests would have been no loss but to lose her because she felt her party didnā€™t stand up for her is all the more unfortunate.”

Calling an end to the rumours, AICC spokesperson Priyanka Chaturvedi today confirmed her resignation from the Congress party.

Taking on twitter, Chaturvedi posted her resignation saying,ā€ I am absolutely overwhelmed and grateful with the love and support I have got across board from the nation in the past 3 days. I consider myself blessed with this immense outpouring of support. Thank you to all who have been a part of this journey..ā€

Stating the reason behind her resignation, Chaturvedi wrote, In the last few weeks certain things have convinced me that my service is not valued in the organisation and that I have reached the end of the road. She further added that the more time I spend in the organisation it will be at the cost of my own self-respect and dignity.

Questioning the safety and dignity of the women in the party, Chaturvedi in the letter to Congress president Rahul Gandhi wrote, What saddens me is the despite the safety, dignity, empowerment of women being promoted by the party and has been your call to action, the same is not reflected in the action of some of the party members.

Meanwhile, Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut speaking to News Agency ANI said, Priyanka Chaturvedi will join Shiv Sena today. ā€ Rumours about Chaturvedi arised after she removed the designation of ā€˜INC National Spokespersonā€™ from her Twitter bio overnight along with no mention of the Congress party.
