MHA issues notice to Rahul Gandhi over British citizenship complaint

New Delhi | The Ministry of Home Affairs today issued a notice to Congress President Rahul Gandhi over complaints related to his citizenships.

Acting on the complaint filed by BJP leader and Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy, the Union Home Ministry has issued a notice to Congress party and asked to report in a fortnight. Swamy in his complaint has claimed that Gandhi has a British citizenship.

 

MHA in the notice stated that ministry has received a complaint form Dr. Subramanian Swamy in which it has been brought out that a company named Backops Limiter was registered in the United Kingdom in the year 2003 and in the company’s annual returns filed in 2005 and 2006, your birth date has been given as 19/06/1970 and you have declared your nationality as British.

The Ministry has asked Rahul Gandhi to intimate the factual position in the matter to this ministry within a fortnight of the receipt of this communication.
