Lok Sabha polls: RSS General Secretary Bhaiyaji Joshi meets Nitin Gadkari in Nagpur

New Delhi | Amid the declaration of the results for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, RSS general secretary Bhaiyaji Joshi to meet Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at his Nagpur residence.

According to sources, the meeting is largely based on the outcome of the Lok Sabha results. Joshi was accompanied by BJP leader and party’s West Bengal in-charge Kailash Vijayvargia with him.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also likely to meet RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat before the final result of the vote counting on May 23. As reported by The Wire, sources have told them that Narendra Modi will meet Bhagwat to discuss various existing political scenarios. This will apparently be the first visit to Nagpur, the RSS headquarters after winning the elections in 2014.

“This has fuelled speculations that he could be seeking the Sangh parivar’s backing for the prime ministerial post, amidst rumours that in case the Bharatiya Janata Party falls short of a majority, the RSS may propose the name of another BJP leader to appease members of the National Democratic Alliance”, the report says.

Most exit polls on Sunday forecast another term for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with some of them projecting that BJP-led NDA will get more than 300 seats to comfortably cross the majority mark of 272 in the Lok Sabha.

Exit polls were, however, divided in their prediction for the politically most crucial state of Uttar Pradesh with some like ABP-Nielsen saying that the BJP’s tally may fall to 22 from 71 while a few others like New 18-Ipsos and News 24-Chanakya tipping its tally over 60 seats.
