less than 24 hours are remaining for the second phase of polling for the lok sabha election. As many as 97 constituencies from 13 states and Union territories will go for voting tomorrow. One of the states is Karnataka where 14 constituencies are going for polling. There are 30,410 polling stations set up in the state in this phase. In this phase, there are a total of 241 candidates ( out of which 17 are women) in the fray.
let us talk about Karnataka politics. As the name itself suggests the drama never stops in Karnataka. Last year, after the crucial assembly election, Congress and JDS formed an alliance in the state and formed a government. Whereas BJP even after emerging as the single largest party, had to be in the opposition ranks. JDS leader HD Kumaraswamy was made the chief minister. His swearing-in ceremony saw who’s who of India’s opposition and the power show of opposition unity marked the event. Sonia gandhi giving a hug to Mayawati, Mamata banerjee standing shoulder to shoulder with Sharad pawar sparked the speculation of nation-wide mega opposition alliance. Though the nation-wide alliance has not happened, Congress-JDS have taken their alliance in Lok Sabha election.
BJP, on the other hand, tried twice to break the Congress MLA and form the government in the state sparking the speculation of the infamous Operation kamal. In another blow to the party, a diary of yeddyurappa mentioning the names of people whom he had allegedly paid off came to fore which included names like LK Advani.
However, the BJP is looking at making a comeback and win all the seats in the state. #Karnataka #CongressJDS #HDKumaraswamy
