Lok Sabha Election 2019

#Elections2019: Cash seized from BJD MLA in Odisha

In the election season, we often hear incidents of candidates using money power to lure voters. One such incident has come to light in Odisha where the first phase of Lok Sabha elections is due tomorrow. The Election Commission flying squad today seized unaccounted cash worth Rs 2 lakh from the vehicle of Pradeep Dishari, BJD’s candidate from Lanjigarh Assembly constituency, near Jayapatna area in the district. Dishari along with his four associates were in the car when the officials stopped the vehicle for checking. The authorities recovered an amount of Rs 2 lakh in denominations of Rs 500. Since one cannot carry cash above Rs 50,000 in election time, authorities seized the entire amount. Police have also seized the vehicle and detained its driver for interrogation.

The flying squad of EC have intensified checking to curb the inflow of black money in elections so as to ensure a free and fair poll in the district. #Odisha #LokSabha2019 #Elections2019
