6 Dead, Several Injured After Electric Bus Loses Control And Hits Bystanders In Kanpur

Kanpur: At least six people were killed and 12 others were injured after a electric bus ran over them. The electric bus lost its control and thereby hit the bystanders in Kanpur today, said police. The incident happened near the Tata Mill crossroad.

The speeding lost bus had lost its control and hit several bystanders and vehicles. Three bikes and many bikes have been destroyed in the accident. The bus ran through the traffic booth and came to halt after hitting a truck.The injured were soon taken to the nearby hospital.

Local police have probed a investigation into the matter.

Although the driver of the bus is on the run and police are looking for him said Pramod Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, East Kanpur.

President Ramnath Kovind expressed his grief over the situation taking to twitter he wrote “Deeply saddened by the news of many casualties in the Kanpur bus accident. My deepest condolences to the families who lost their loved ones in this incident. I wish the injured people a speedy recovery.”

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took to Twitter to express condolences to the families of the dead in the road accident.

“Received unfortunate news of a road accident in Kanpur. My deepest condolences to the families of the dead. I pray to God for the speedy recovery of the injured in the accident,” Ms Priyanka tweeted in Hindi.
