Alcohol Ban Around Temples In Ayodhya-Mathura, Govt Suggests To Sell Milk

Uttar Pradesh:  Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has imposed a complete ban on the sale of liquor in areas around temples in Ayodhya and Mathura. 

The government has also canceled the licenses of alcohol shop owners in Ayodhya suggesting that traders could take up selling milk and revive the industry in Mathura, known for producing huge quantities of animal milk.

The order comes into immediate effect on June 1, 2022, Wednesday and the government has ordered the shut down of at least 37 shops of beer, alcohol, and bhang in areas surrounding the temples in Mathura.

Earlier Yogi Adityanath had announced a ban on liquor shops and the sale of non-vegetarian food at all places of worship, such as Varanasi, Vrindavan, Ayodhya, Chitrakoot, Deoband, Dewa Sharif, Misrikh-Naimisharanya.
