BJP Issued 1st Candidate List Today, Yogi Adityanath To Contest From Gorakhpur

New Delhi: UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will contest next month’s Assembly election from the Gorakhpur (Urban constituency, the BJP said Saturday afternoon, as it released its first list of candidates.

Voting for the Gorakhpur (Urban) seat will be on March 3 – the sixth and penultimate phase.

There was earlier speculation that the Chief Minister – who has never stood in an Assembly election before – would contest from one of two temple towns – Ayodhya or Mathura. KP Maurya would be contesting from Prayagraj. Wherein, Baby Rani would fight from Agra. Shrikant Sharma has retained his seat from Mathura. 

UP votes for a new government in a seven-phase poll that begins on February 10.

While addressing the press conference, Pradhan said that most of the poor houses in UP have been built in UP. UP has also got the benefit of door-to-door electricity, Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Yojana. Free food grains were made available to the poor by the UP and Central Government.Also these schemes for poor welfare have increased the confidence in the Modi regime. Yogi’s government has cracked down on rioters in the last 5 years. The corrupt have been cracked down. The daughter-in-law of the state can roam fearlessly even at night. We are confident that in this great festival of 2022, people will again bless us. The names have been agreed upon in the meeting of the Central Election Committee held in Delhi for three days.

Earlier today, BSP leader Mayawati had released the list of 53 BSP candidates. The SP-RLD alliance has finalized the names of 29 candidates. The BJP was waiting for the names of the candidates of the opposition parties to be released.

New Delhi: Army Chief General MM Naravane on Saturday said the Indian Army will not let any attempt to one sided change, the status quo along the country’s borders to succeed. Speaking at the Army Day parade, General Naravane said, “Our message is clear. The Indian Army won’t let any attempt to unilaterally the change status quo along the country’s borders to succeed.”

While speaking of the deadlock with China on eastern Ladakh, he said that joint efforts led to disengagement in many areas. He said, “Last year was extremely challenging for the Army. Joint efforts at various levels led to disengagement in many areas which is a constructive step. The 14th round of military-level talks was held between India and China recently to keep the situation under control.”

Regarding the Line of Control on the western border, situation is better than previous year but Pakistan still harbouring terrorists. 

Earlier in the day, the three service chiefs – General Naravane, Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari and Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar – paid their obeisance at the National War Memorial in Delhi to mark the day.

The armed forces chiefs also laid a wreath at the war memorial.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Ram Nath Kovind also extended their greetings on Army day.
