BJP MLA Takes Potshots At Mayor Pednekar

Mumbai: BJP MLA Nitesh Rane hitting at BMC mayor Kishori Pednekar, said that she was helping the latter in the fight for justice for Disha Salian. He said so referring to the mayor’s visit to the Pednekar family and a letter written to the State Women’s Commission in this regard.

“Despite instructions from Sanjay Raut (Shiv Sena leader) not to talk on Salian issue, Pednekar went ahead with it. She wrote a letter to the women’s commission and also met her family members with media,” Rane said.

He calls the mayor’s this move an ‘impatient move.’ “In the past, she had admitted that their ‘prince’ is called a penguin. She is getting impatient perhaps due to the announcement made by Shiv Sena of not to give a ticket for corporators above 45 years old,” he said.

BJP MLA recalled that controversial Kini murder case, which was unearthed in the past to clip wings of current MNS chief Raj Thackeray. “Similarly, Salian controversy has been brought back by Shiv Sena to prevent Aditya Thackeray’s Yuva Sena from getting the Centre stage in politics,” he added.

Further, he thanked the mayor Pednekar and said she was helping BJP by raising the Salian issue.

Salian was a former secretary of late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput. She had committed suicide a few days before the actor committed the same act.

Bail Conditions For Senthil Balaji: He must appear before (arresting officials) twice a week, not tamper with evidence or witnesses, and must surrender his passport.

DMK leader and former minister Senthil Balaji was granted bail by the Supreme Court on Thursday in connection with an alleged cash-for-jobs scam.

A bench comprising Justice Abhay Oka and Justice Augustine George Marsh flagged his lengthy imprisonment and the delay in a trial, and said these could not go together.

The top court said: “What we have said is stringent and higher threshold of bail and delay in prosecution cannot go together.”

The 48-year-old politician has been in jail since his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate in June 2023. The SC, in November last year, refused to hear a bail plea, citing his health, noting it was not satisfied with his arguments and that his condition could be cured with medicines.

The bail conditions set for Senthil Balaji are as follows: He must appear before the arresting officials twice a week, he must not tamper with evidence or witnesses, and he must surrender his passport.
