New Delhi: As tensions between the BJP and the Aam Aadmi Party rise over recent demolitions during anti-encroachment efforts by BJP-run civic bodies in Delhi, the AAP today issued a strong warning to BJP Delhi leader Adesh Gupta, alleging that his home and office too encroach on public land. If Mr Gupta does not remove the encroachment by 11 a.m. tomorrow, the AAP has threatened to send bulldozers to his house.
The latest spat erupted after AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was arrested in the Madanpur Khadar district of southeast Delhi yesterday after intervening to stop the demolitions.
“Adesh Gupta has encroached upon public land for his house and office. We filed complaints but no action was taken,” AAP said while announcing the dramatic plan.
Manish Sisodiya, the deputy chief minister of Delhi, has voiced concerns about the “BJP’s massive strategy to extort money” by threatening to use bulldozers. He claimed that the BJP intended to demolish 63 lakh homes in the capital.
AAP Delhi’s in-charge for civic bodies, Durgesh Pathak, claims that the BJP is extorting money from citizens by threatening them with bulldozers. “No municipal officer who approved these unlawful structures will have their house destroyed,” he stated.
In response to allegations that the BJP is committing corruption through civic authorities, Adesh Gupta blamed “illegal Rohingyas and Bangladeshis” for encroaching on public land. He also accused AAP officials of harbouring illegal immigrants in unlicensed colonies and using them as rioting fodder.
“AAP has been protecting Rohingya encroachers in Delhi, Rioters who are shielded by AAP leaders. If the Delhi government cared about poor people then you should have implemented the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat scheme in Delhi. You would have provided permanent houses to people who live in the Juggi Jhopdi colonies. So please don’t do politics over bulldozing of properties of Bangladeshis, Rohingyas, terrorists and rioters which is being done by BJP,” he said.
