New Delhi: The Delhi government has decided to ease the weekend curfew as covid cases has been gradually declining as well the odd-even systems for shops have been imposed too.
According to Indian Express”Keeping in view the reduction in cases, the government has proposed to lift a few Covid restrictions – weekend curfew and odd-even system in markets. The proposal to remove Covid restrictions has been approved by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and forwarded to the L-G for final approval.”
The decision comes days after the New Delhi Traders Association, Sadar Bazar traders and other market associations held a protest demanding to lift the odd-even opening of shops in markets as it affected them financially and many employees were losing jobs.
The weekend curfew in Delhi was imposed from January 7 and the odd-even scheme was implemented in markets from January 1. Covid cases, meanwhile, have reduced over the past week and the positivity rate has dropped to 21.48%. A total of 12,806 positive cases were recorded on Thursday.
Delhi on Thursday reported 12,306 fresh Covid-19 cases and 43 more fatalities due to the viral disease, while the positivity rate dipped to 21.48 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department.
Meanwhile on Friday (January 21), India recorded 3,47,254 new Covid-19 cases, 703 deaths in the last 24 hours, pushing the total death toll to 4,88,396, according to the data released by the Ministry of Health on Friday (January 21, 2022). The active cases stand at 20,18,825.
