New Delhi: Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani is the 10th richest person in the world, followed by the infrastructure tycoon Gautam Adani and his family, which claimed the 11th spot on Forbes’ annual world’s billionaires list. SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has toppled Amazon founder Jezz Bezos from the top spot this year.
While, the man behind the Serum Institute of India, which manufactured the Covishield vaccine, Poonwalla, doubled his wealth to $24.3 billion, and jumped four spots from his previous ranking. He ranks number 56 in the world. Whereas,the founder of HCL Technologies Limited, Nadar, is India’s third-richest person and increased his wealth by 22 per cent, according to Forbes, accounting for a net worth of $28.7 billion. He’s ranked number 47 in the world.
In the 36th annual ranking of the world’s wealthiest people, there are 2,668 billionaires, 87 fewer than a year ago. According to the business publication, the ultra-wealthy have been hammered by “war, epidemic, and slow markets.” 1,000 billionaires, on the other hand, are now wealthier than they were a year ago.
There are 236 new billionaires on the list, with America leading the way with 735 billionaires worth a total of $4.7 trillion.
The number of billionaires in Russia and China has dropped dramatically. According to Forbes, Russia has 34 fewer billionaires than last year as a result of Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, and China has 87 less billionaires as a result of a government assault on internet enterprises.
